Ivory Coast forward Elye Wahi has been refused entry into Canada ahead of the “Elephants’” World Cup match against Germany in Toronto on Saturday, due to allegations related to match-fixing.
Wahi, who is contracted to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt but spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, is currently under investigation by authorities in Marseille over accusations including organized fraud, organized sporting corruption, handling proceeds of crime, and money laundering, according to a statement shared with The New York Times (NYT).
