Manchester City have announced that Abdukodir Khusanov has signed a new five-year contract, extending his stay at the club until 2031.
The Uzbekistan international defender joined City in January 2025 and has enjoyed an impressive first 18 months in English football.
Now 22, Khusanov has steadily grown in confidence and stature, becoming one of the most trusted members of the squad during the 2025/26 season.
He formed a strong centre-back partnership with Marc Guéhi in the second half of the campaign, featuring in 16 of City’s final 19 Premier League matches and playing key roles in both the FA Cup and League Cup final victories.
Just 47 games into his City career, Khusanov’s pace and tackling ability have established him as one of the Premier League’s standout young defenders and a fan favourite at the Etihad Stadium.
He was also among the final three nominees for City’s 2025/26 Etihad Player of the Season award, narrowly missing out to Academy graduate Nico O’Reilly.
At international level, Khusanov played a pivotal role in helping Uzbekistan qualify for their first-ever World Cup.
His progress both on and off the pitch has now been rewarded with a new long-term contract.
