Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has officially joined Chilean giants Colo-Colo on a six-month contract, with an option to extend for a further year.
The 40-year-old shot-stopper, who became one of the biggest stories of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, completed his medical on Monday before signing with the Chilean club.
According to reports, Vozinha is expected to make his debut on August 16 against O'Higgins, as Colo-Colo continue their push to stay on top of the Chilean Primera División standings.
Vozinha played a pivotal role in Cape Verde's historic World Cup campaign, helping the African nation reach the knockout stage in its tournament debut. Cape Verde advanced from a difficult group after earning impressive draws against eventual champions Spain and Uruguay before being narrowly eliminated by Argentina in the Round of 32.
His outstanding performances also made him a global social media phenomenon, with his Instagram following soaring from around 50,000 before the tournament to approximately 17.4 million.
Colo-Colo also received approval for the goalkeeper to wear his famous nickname, "Vozinha," on the back of his shirt despite Chilean league regulations that generally restrict the use of nicknames. The request was accepted after receiving support from fellow clubs.
The nickname, which translates to "little grandmother" in Portuguese, dates back to his childhood. Friends gave him the name after he would often cry following defeats in street football and run home to the grandparents who raised him.
Born Josimar José Évore Dias, Vozinha most recently played for Portuguese second-tier side Chaves and has previously featured for clubs in Angola, Cyprus, Moldova and Slovakia.
