Vancouver Stadium hosted a Round of 32 match in the 2026 FIFA World Cup between Switzerland and Algeria, where Switzerland secured a confident 2–0 victory.
Switzerland started strongly but were under slight pressure in terms of overall statistics during the first half, as Algeria created several promising chances. Despite this, the breakthrough came early in the 10th minute. Johan Manzambi delivered a decisive attacking move that disrupted the Algerian defense, allowing Breel Embolo to score the opening goal.

In the second half, Switzerland doubled their advantage almost immediately. In the 46th minute, a precise low-driven shot from Dan Ndoye found the bottom corner, leaving goalkeeper Luca Zidane with no chance.
From that point on, Switzerland controlled possession and tempo, limiting Algeria’s opportunities to mount a comeback. The Algerian side struggled to break through the Swiss defensive structure, and the match gradually slipped away from them.
With this victory, Switzerland advance to the Round of 16, where they will face the winner of Colombia vs Ghana on 6th July.
