Luka Modrić’s remarkable journey with the Croatia national team is set to continue.
The legendary midfielder has decided to remain available for international duty and has confirmed his readiness to represent Croatia in the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. Modrić will therefore remain part of new head coach Slaven Bilić’s plans, choosing to extend his extraordinary international career rather than call time on it.
The decision comes just days before another major milestone for the Croatian captain. Born on September 9, 1985, Modrić will turn 41 before Croatia’s next match. Despite his age, the veteran midfielder has opted to continue representing his country and provide his experience and leadership for another international cycle.
Croatia will begin its new Nations League campaign away against Czechia on September 26. Matches against Spain and England will follow, with Modrić expected to remain at Bilić’s disposal as the coach begins his second spell in charge of the national team.
Modrić has already earned 202 senior appearances for Croatia and scored 29 goals, establishing himself as one of the most influential players in the country’s history.
His club career is also continuing at the highest level. AC Milan officially extended Modrić’s contract until June 30, 2027, after he made 37 appearances and scored twice for the Rossoneri last season.
