Cody Gakpo to Manchester City move cancelled as Liverpool reject £80m offer

Cody Gakpo will remain at Liverpool after the Reds rejected a Manchester City offer worth up to £80 million (€93 million), according to David Ornstein.

Cody Gakpo will remain at Liverpool after his proposed move to Manchester City was cancelled, according to David Ornstein.

Gakpo had been keen on making the move to Manchester City, but Liverpool have decided not to sell the Netherlands international after rejecting an offer from the Premier League champions worth up to £80 million (€93 million).

The proposed transfer had been progressing as City looked to strengthen their attacking options, with Gakpo emerging as a key target. However, Liverpool ultimately refused to sanction the deal, bringing an end to negotiations.

Ornstein reports that Manchester City’s offer was not enough to convince Liverpool to part ways with the 27-year-old forward. Despite Gakpo’s willingness to make the switch, the Reds have now made their position clear: the player is not for sale.

Gakpo will therefore continue his career at Anfield, with the proposed transfer to Manchester City officially off the table.
