Alonso rules out January loan move for Estevao

Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed there have been no discussions over a potential January loan move for Estevao, insisting the Brazilian remains part of his plans ahead of Sunday's clash with Manchester United.

Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed that the club have held no discussions over a potential January transfer for Estevao, speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's clash with Manchester United.

The Brazilian's frustrating start to the season continued on Wednesday night as Chelsea crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Liverpool on penalties.

Having started both of the Blues' previous matches in the competition - against Luton and Leeds - it was somewhat of a surprise that Estevao was named among the substitutes at Anfield.

Furthermore, the fact he remained on the bench throughout has since prompted questions over the teenager's immediate future.

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin has suggested a loan move for Estevao in January would be beneficial for some much-needed game time, but Alonso has stressed that will not be the case.

"No, no discussions about that," the Blues manager said on Friday when asked about the chances of a short-term departure for the 19-year-old.

Alonso also insisted that Estevao will have a part to play in Chelsea's season, promising that the talented Brazilian will be an important player for him.

"Yeah, sure, he will play," the Spaniard said. "The season is long and there will be moments for everyone.

"It's a process for the team, for Este, for myself, but I'm sure that in the season he will have his games, his minutes. And we are still early in the season, but he will be there.

"Yeah, it's not about attitude. It's been about the context of games, it's been about the start of the season, and he's a great guy.

"He really wants his adaptation after the first year of injury, but we are still in October and he will be important."
