Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has postponed his arrival in Chile to complete his move to Colo Colo, with the club confirming the delay is due to personal matters.
Colo Colo had announced the signing of the 40-year-old goalkeeper last week, and club president Aníbal Mosa said he was expected to arrive in Chile on Thursday. However, sporting director Jaime Pizarro explained that Vozinha requested additional time to deal with personal issues before making the trip.
The delay sparked speculation in Chilean media that the veteran keeper could also be in talks with Moroccan side RS Berkane. Pizarro dismissed any concern, saying the club had agreed to Vozinha's request and that immigration procedures had also contributed to the postponement. He added that an update on the goalkeeper's travel plans is expected soon.
Vozinha became one of the breakout stars of the World Cup after playing a key role in Cape Verde's remarkable run. He produced a standout performance in a goalless draw against eventual champions Spain during the group stage and impressed again despite his side's 3-2 extra-time defeat to finalists Argentina in the knockout rounds.
The goalkeeper, whose full name is Josimar José Évora Dias, is set to join Colo Colo from Portuguese second-division club Chaves. Although he did not sign his first professional contract until the age of 26, he has enjoyed a career that has taken him through Cyprus, Slovakia, Moldova and Angola.
His World Cup performances also brought him global recognition off the pitch, with his Instagram following soaring from around 50,000 to more than 29 million.
