Tevez could bring Messi and Ronaldo together for farewell match

TyC Sports claims Carlos Tevez has invited Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to his planned farewell match at La Bombonera in December 2026.

TyC Sports claims that Carlos Tevez, the former Boca Juniors, Manchester United and Argentina striker, is planning his farewell match, with around 60 guests from throughout his illustrious career expected to attend.

According to the report, the farewell match is set to be held at La Bombonera, Boca Juniors’ iconic home stadium and a venue closely linked to several key moments in Tevez’s career.

However, the most intriguing detail surrounding the planned event is the reported guest list. TyC Sports claims that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the players invited, potentially setting up a historic moment in which the two superstars could share the pitch for the first time.

Ronaldo and Tevez were teammates at Manchester United for two seasons following Tevez’s arrival in 2007. Together, they won back-to-back Premier League titles, the 2007–08 UEFA Champions League after defeating Chelsea, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Tevez also shared a long-standing connection with Messi at international level, with both players representing Argentina at multiple World Cups and Copa America tournaments.

If both Messi and Ronaldo accept the invitations and are selected on the same team, Tevez’s farewell match could provide football fans with a unique opportunity to see the two legends playing alongside each other for the first time.

According to TyC Sports, the farewell match is expected to take place in December 2026, with December 12–13 and December 19–20 being considered as possible dates.

The final date, however, will depend on Boca Juniors’ schedule during the latter part of the season.
