Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund shared the points in a thrilling Der Klassiker at the Allianz Arena, playing out a 2-2 draw in Matchday 8 of the Bundesliga. Despite taking the lead twice and dominating large spells of the contest, Bayern were denied victory by Fabio Silva's dramatic 89th-minute equaliser.
Bayern made the brighter start, putting Dortmund under pressure and creating several promising opportunities. Michael Olise came particularly close to opening the scoring, only to see his effort strike the post. Dortmund gradually grew into the game, however, and began to enjoy more possession. Job Bellingham tested Jonas Urbig with a well-struck effort, while Ismaël Saibari missed a golden one-on-one opportunity against Gregor Kobel in the 24th minute. Saibari subsequently had to leave the pitch through injury, with Nathaniel Brown coming on as his replacement.

Bayern also suffered an injury setback, as Serge Gnabry was forced off and replaced by Josip Stanišić. Dortmund thought they had taken the lead in the 34th minute when Job Bellingham capitalised on a defensive error involving Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano. However, the goal was ruled out following a foul by Carney Chukwuemeka on Bayern goalkeeper Urbig.

The hosts eventually found the breakthrough in the 38th minute. Konrad Laimer won possession, combined brilliantly with Olise and finished the move himself to put Bayern ahead.

The second half produced another major talking point when Harry Kane missed a penalty in the 56th minute, sending his effort against the post. Dortmund took full advantage just four minutes later, as Serhou Guirassy found the net after Nico Schlotterbeck won possession and Chukwuemeka provided the assist.

Bayern responded quickly. In the 66th minute, Kane turned provider with an excellent header, setting up Upamecano to restore the hosts' lead and put Bayern back in front at 2-1.

As the match entered its closing stages, Bayern appeared to be on course for another important victory. However, substitute Fabio Silva had other ideas. The Portuguese forward struck in the 89th minute to rescue a dramatic point for Dortmund and silence the Allianz Arena.
The result leaves both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund on 18 points after eight matches, with Bayern retaining top spot thanks to their superior goal difference.
