As the Serie A campaign moves towards its final stretch, AS Roma may already be facing one of the biggest transfer battles of the summer.
Brazilian right-back Wesley has rapidly become one of the most talked-about defenders in Europe, with clubs from England and Spain now monitoring his situation closely, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.
Among the top clubs closely monitoring the Brazilian, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the most prominent ones, looking to sign the talented Serie A star.
Roma signed Wesley from Flamengo in July 2025, confirming the deal as a permanent transfer, while reports at the time suggested the package was worth around €25 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
The 22-year-old has since developed into an important figure in the Italian capital, and his rise has not gone unnoticed.
Wesley’s appeal is easy to understand. Modern elite clubs no longer look at full-backs simply as defenders. They want players who can recover quickly, carry the ball, press aggressively, defend one-v-one situations and contribute in advanced areas.
Wesley fits that profile. His time in Serie A has also helped sharpen the tactical side of his game, with Roma giving him a platform to prove he can handle a more disciplined defensive environment after coming through at Flamengo.
According to Transfermarkt, Wesley is under contract with Roma until June 2030, which gives the Italian club a strong negotiating position.
His market value is currently listed at €40 million, but recent reports suggest Roma could demand significantly more if Europe’s biggest clubs make formal approaches.
Interest from the Premier League appears particularly strong. Man City, Newcastle United have all been impressed by Wesley, while Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked.
