Lionel Messi has added another major achievement to his already remarkable career, winning the 2026 MLS Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer for the second consecutive season.
The Inter Miami superstar finished the campaign with 26 goals in 31 appearances, leading the scoring charts by four goals ahead of FC Dallas striker Petar Musa, who scored 22.
Messi previously claimed the award in 2025 with an impressive 29 goals in just 28 matches.
With this latest achievement, Messi becomes the first player in MLS history to win the Golden Boot in back-to-back seasons and the sixth player ever to claim the award multiple times.
The Argentine also dominated several other attacking statistics, recording an average of 0.84 goals per game and an impressive 43 goal contributions. He scored in six multi-goal performances, with just one of his 26 goals coming from the penalty spot.
His 25 non-penalty goals rank as the second-highest single-season total in MLS history, behind his own record of 28 in 2025.
Messi is also the leading contender for the 2026 MLS MVP award. Winning it would make him the first player to claim the league's top individual honor three consecutive times.
