Erling Haaland has shocked football fans by unveiling a dramatic new hairstyle ahead of Manchester City’s opening Premier League game of the 2026/27 season.
The Norwegian striker has ditched his trademark long blonde hair for a much shorter, buzz-cut style. Haaland revealed the transformation on social media on Sunday, August 23, captioning the post, “New season, new trim.”
The new look quickly went viral, with fans and football stars reacting to the unexpected change. Zlatan Ibrahimović jokingly asked Haaland whether he had “lost a bet,” while Pep Guardiola also made a light-hearted comment about the haircut.
Haaland had previously said that Ibrahimović advised him not to cut his hair, famously suggesting that his strength was in his hair. Despite that advice, the 26-year-old decided it was time for a fresh start.
The haircut was revealed just hours before Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth, giving Haaland’s new look its first appearance in competitive action.
