Joshua Kimmich will miss Bayern Munich’s Champions League home match against Arsenal on Wednesday night following the death of his father.
The German club confirmed the news on Wednesday morning, expressing its condolences to the midfielder and his family.
“Everyone at FC Bayern stands by Joshua Kimmich and extends their deepest condolences to him,” the club said in a statement.
Bayern also asked the media, on behalf of the family, to respect their privacy and grief and refrain from further inquiries or reporting on the matter.
Kimmich had already missed Tuesday’s final training session, with the club initially citing personal reasons for his absence.
In addition to Kimmich, Bayern will also be without forward Michael Olise, who is suspended for Wednesday’s Champions League encounter.
