Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly preparing to marry longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez in a ceremony on the Portuguese island of Madeira, where the football icon was born and raised.
According to local reports, the couple have chosen the island's capital, Funchal, as the wedding location, with the city's cathedral reportedly booked for a major ceremony next Saturday. The reception is expected to take place at the nearby five-star Savoy Palace hotel, where guests have reportedly been informed that parts of the property will be reserved for the private celebration.
Ronaldo, who currently plays club football in Saudi Arabia, met Spanish-Argentinian model Georgina Rodriguez in 2016. The couple got engaged last August after years together.
The pair were recently photographed wearing diamond rings while boarding a yacht in Mallorca, fueling further speculation about their upcoming wedding.
Ronaldo had previously said he hoped to marry after the World Cup, joking that he wanted to arrive at his wedding with the championship trophy. He has also described Georgina as the only woman he has wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
