Former Netherlands international Clarence Seedorf has returned to management after seven years away from coaching, with Brazilian club Corinthians confirming his appointment on Sunday.
The 50-year-old, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Real Madrid, Inter Milan and AC Milan, last managed Cameroon before being dismissed in July 2019.
Corinthians announced that Seedorf had signed a contract through the end of the 2027 season. The club made the appointment after parting ways with Fernando Diniz on Wednesday, as they continue to battle near the bottom of the Brazilian Serie A standings, sitting just one point above the relegation zone.
Seedorf began his managerial career at AC Milan in January 2014, shortly after ending his playing contract with Botafogo to retire from professional football. He took charge of Milan when the team were 11th in the league and guided them to an eighth-place finish before leaving the club in June of the same year.
Following his spell in Italy, Seedorf went on to coach Chinese side Shenzhen and Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña before taking charge of Cameroon. His appointment at Corinthians marks his first managerial role since his departure from the national team in 2019.
