Bayern Munich claimed an important 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium on the opening night of Matchday 4 in the UEFA Champions League, with goals from Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer securing all three points for the German champions.
The match began at a relatively even pace, although Atletico Madrid created the more promising and dangerous opportunities during the opening stages. Bayern gradually grew into the game, with Harry Kane having two good chances to break the deadlock, but neither found the back of the net. The first half remained cautious, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut opportunities.
Bayern made a stronger start to the second half and took the lead in the 54th minute. Youngster Lennart Karl capitalised on a defensive mistake by Atletico to put the visitors ahead.

The German side came close to doubling their advantage in the 73rd minute when Dayot Upamecano's effort, following a save from Jan Oblak, struck the post.
However, Bayern did not have to wait long for their second goal. Just a minute later, Konrad Laimer finished off an excellent pass from Harry Kane with a stunning strike into the roof of the net, sealing a deserved 2-0 victory for the visitors.
The result takes Bayern Munich to eight points, moving them up to eighth place in the Champions League standings. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, remain on four points in 22nd position.
