Red Bull Arena Stadium hosted the 2026 UEFA Super Cup, a clash between UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and UEFA Europa League winners Aston Villa, which ended in a 2–1 victory for the French side and saw PSG lift the trophy.
The French side made the better start to the first half and took the lead in the 20th minute through a spectacular goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, the Birmingham Lions refused to back down and gradually created a number of good chances, eventually finding an equalizer before the break. Seventeen-year-old Brian Madjo scored on his debut for Villa against the Parisians, sending the two teams into the dressing room level at 1–1.
PSG regained the lead in the 61st minute through a goal that was initially ruled out for offside. However, a VAR review showed that Désiré Doué had been in a legal position when he found the net. Aston Villa were unable to find a response to the second goal, and the trophy ultimately went to Paris Saint-Germain.
As a result, Luis Enrique followed up his UEFA Champions League triumph by guiding the Parisians to another trophy in the Super Cup, securing silverware for the second consecutive year.
