Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has officially returned to LaLiga after completing a permanent move to newly promoted Deportivo La Coruña on a two-year contract.
Marseille excluded the Gabonese striker from their plans for the upcoming season, paving the way for his transfer to Deportivo in a deal worth approximately €1.5 million.
Deportivo secured promotion to LaLiga after finishing second in the 2025–26 LaLiga 2 campaign. The historic Spanish club will compete in the top flight for the first time since the 2017–18 season, having previously fallen as far as Spain's third division.
Aubameyang, who enjoyed a brief spell at Barcelona in 2022 and won the LaLiga title, now joins his fifth club in the past six years after departing Marseille for a second time.
The 36-year-old had returned to Marseille ahead of the 2025–26 season following his successful first stint at the Stade Vélodrome in 2023–24. During his second spell with the French side, he made 41 appearances across all competitions, scoring 14 goals, including 10 in Ligue 1.
Among Marseille players in Ligue 1 last season, only Mason Greenwood (16) scored more goals than Aubameyang, while Greenwood (7) was also the only teammate to register more assists than the Gabon international, who provided five.
