Atlético Madrid and Juventus have reached an agreement for the loan transfer of Jonathan David. The Canadian striker will wear the rojiblanco shirt during the 2026/27 season.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 14, 2000, Jonathan David moved to Haiti at a very young age, where he lived until the age of six. He then relocated to Ottawa, Canada, where he developed his footballing skills. His rapid progression caught the attention of Belgian side Gent, who signed him in 2018.
David began to showcase his attacking potential in Belgium and scored 37 goals during his two seasons with Gent. His performances earned him a move to Lille, where he spent five seasons. During his time in France, the forward made 232 appearances, scoring 109 goals and providing 31 assists, while winning both the Ligue 1 title and the French Super Cup.
His impressive performances confirmed his ability to make a decisive impact and ultimately earned him a move to Juventus in the summer of 2025.
David is a full Canadian international and one of the country's biggest football stars. He has become Canada's all-time leading scorer with 42 goals for the national team, including three goals at the most recent World Cup.
Primarily deployed as a centre-forward, David offers much more than his ability to finish chances. He is known for his movement, link-up play and versatility in the attacking third, making him a dynamic option across the front line.
The Canadian international has already completed his medical examination at the Vithas–Invictum High-Performance Sports Medicine Center at Madrid's Arturo Soria University Hospital. He will now head to Atlético Madrid's offices at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano to complete the formalities of his move.
