Arsenal secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of Matchweek 3 of the Premier League.
Chelsea entered the game looking to end a five-year wait for a Premier League victory over Arsenal. However, the visitors made a dream start. Just two minutes into the match, Morgan Rogers stunned the hosts with a superb low strike to give Chelsea an early lead.
Arsenal quickly responded and began to take control of the game with their attacking approach. Ricardo Calafiori appeared to have equalised in the 12th minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review. Arsenal did not have to wait long for an equaliser, though, as Kai Havertz found the net with a low left-footed finish against his former club.
The Gunners continued to dominate after the break and completed the turnaround in the 50th minute. A perfectly weighted pass from Christos Zolis found Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard, who calmly fired the ball into the back of the net to put the hosts 2–1 ahead.
Chelsea pushed forward in search of an equaliser and the game remained intense and entertaining until the final whistle. However, the London side struggled to break through Arsenal's defence and were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper David Raya.
The victory takes Arsenal to nine points from their opening three matches, leaving them second in the Premier League table behind Manchester City. Chelsea, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the season and remain fourth with six points.
