Another night of UEFA Nations League action is in the books, with the biggest clash of the evening taking place at Brussels’ King Baudouin Stadium, where Belgium hosted France. Les Bleus eventually secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory, with Michael Olise scoring the decisive goal late in the second half.
France created the first major opening in the 12th minute when Désiré Doué produced a brilliant individual run before seeing his effort crash against the post. Despite enjoying more possession and registering more shots on target, France were unable to find a breakthrough before the interval, sending both sides into half-time goalless.
The visitors came out of the dressing room with even greater attacking intent after the restart. In the 53rd minute, Lucas Digne came agonisingly close to opening the scoring with a low drive that rattled the post. Just three minutes later, Doué tested Belgium goalkeeper Senne Lammens with another low effort, but the Belgian shot-stopper stood firm.
Belgium finally produced their clearest opportunity in the 73rd minute when Mike Maignan came to France’s rescue in a one-on-one situation against Dodi Lukebakio, denying the hosts what could have been a crucial opener.
France continued to pile on the pressure as the clock ticked down, and their persistence finally paid off in the 88th minute. Michael Olise produced a moment of individual brilliance, firing a superb low strike beyond Lammens to finally break the deadlock.
The late winner sealed France’s second consecutive 1–0 victory, giving Les Bleus another three points and taking their tally to six points in the Nations League.
It was a night of patience and persistence for France — and once again, they found a way to get the job done when it mattered most.
