The first group to be decided at the 2026 FIFA World Cup was Group B, which concluded with Switzerland finishing top of the table and Canada advancing as runners-up.
At Vancouver Stadium, host nation Canada faced Switzerland and suffered a 2–1 defeat, marking the first loss by one of the tournament’s host countries.
The first half ended goalless, but Switzerland took the lead immediately after the restart when Ruben Vargas scored in the 46th minute. Johan Manzambi doubled the advantage in the 57th minute. Canada pulled one back in the 76th minute through substitute striker Promise David, but it was not enough to prevent defeat.

Meanwhile, at Seattle Stadium, Bosnia and Herzegovina faced Qatar, with the Dragons securing a 3–1 victory.
Karim Alajbegović opened the scoring for Bosnia in the 29th minute with a fine strike. Five minutes later, Edin Džeko’s effort took a deflection off Sultan Al-Brake and found the net, giving Bosnia a quick second goal. Hassan Al-Haydos reduced the deficit for Qatar in the 42nd minute, but Ermin Mahmić sealed Bosnia’s victory with a goal in the 81st minute.

In the final Group B standings of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Switzerland finished first with seven points. Canada claimed second place with four points, edging Bosnia and Herzegovina on the head-to-head tiebreaker. Bosnia, also on four points, will have a strong chance of progressing as one of the best third-placed teams. Qatar exited the tournament with just one point.
