Spain pushes for 2030 World Cup final amid joint bid competition

Education, Vocational Training and Sports Minister Milagros Tolón has reaffirmed Spain’s strong commitment to hosting the 2030 World Cup final on its territory, as the government intensifies efforts against competing bids from Morocco and Portugal while continuing coordination work through an interministerial commission focused on security, infrastructure, and mobility.

The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, has firmly stated the central government’s commitment to ensuring that the final of the 2030 World Cup is held on Spanish soil.

During a forum organized by Europa Press, the minister stressed that the Government is working intensively to secure this sporting milestone in the face of the joint bids from Morocco and Portugal.

Despite repeated questions about the specific venue, Tolón avoided confirming whether the Bernabéu Stadium will be the chosen location. "The final has to be in Spain", she emphasized, avoiding favoritism between stadiums.

The minister insisted that the government team is fully dedicated to coordinating this objective with the other host countries.

Regarding institutional involvement, the minister responded to the RFEF’s recent requests by assuring that the Government has been "involved from minute one".

To that end, an Interministerial Commission has been set up with eight specific working groups that are already analyzing key aspects such as security, the necessary infrastructure, and mobility for the event.
