Spain secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Austria in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the match taking place at Los Angeles Stadium.
As expected, La Roja dominated possession and controlled the tempo from the opening whistle. Spain thought they had taken the lead in the 29th minute when Marc Cucurella headed home from Lamine Yamal's corner, but the goal was ruled out after a foul on Austria goalkeeper Alexander Schlager.
Spain continued to pile on the pressure and finally broke the deadlock in the 36th minute. Marc Cucurella provided the assist for Mikel Oyarzabal, who calmly placed a precise left-footed finish into the corner of the net to make it 1-0.
Just before halftime, Spain came close to doubling their advantage. In first-half stoppage time, Álex Baena's free-kick struck the crossbar before Lamine Yamal was denied by Schlager in a one-on-one situation, leaving Spain with a narrow lead at the break.

Spain knew a second goal would all but secure their place in the quarter-finals, and they found it in the 66th minute. Álex Baena delivered an excellent cross that Pedro Porro powered into the net with a header to double the advantage.
Spain's dominance was so complete that Austria never looked capable of mounting a comeback. The result was put beyond doubt in the 89th minute, when Mikel Oyarzabal netted his second of the match from Marc Cucurella's assist, making it 3-0 for La Roja.
With the victory, Spain advance to Dallas, where they will face the winner of the Portugal vs. Croatia Round of 16 clash on 6th July.
