Scotland claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Haiti in their opening Group C match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at Boston Stadium on Friday, with John McGinn’s first-half strike proving enough to secure all three points and send the Scots to the top of the group.
The decisive moment came in the 29th minute when experienced Scotland midfielder John McGinn fired an effort that took a deflection off a Haitian player before finding the back of the net.
Despite Haiti’s efforts to respond, Scotland held firm defensively to preserve their advantage and begin their World Cup campaign with a win.
The result moved Scotland to the summit of Group C with three points, benefiting from the 1-1 draw between Brazil and Morocco earlier in the day. Haiti, meanwhile, remain without a point after their opening match of the tournament.
