Vancouver Stadium hosted the second match of the second round in Group G of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as Egypt secured a convincing 3-1 comeback victory over New Zealand.
New Zealand stunned the Pharaohs in the 15th minute when Tim Payne's cross found Finn Surman, whose header caught everyone by surprise and gave the Kiwis an early lead. Despite enjoying the majority of possession and creating several opportunities, Egypt were unable to find an equalizer before halftime.

Egypt, however, came out with renewed determination after the break. In the 59th minute, Mohamed Hany delivered a precise cross that was headed home by Mostafa Ziko to level the score. Just eight minutes later, Ziko turned provider, setting up Egypt's star forward Mohamed Salah, who calmly finished to put his side ahead 2-1.
Substitute Trezeguet sealed the victory in the 82nd minute, rising highest to meet an excellent cross from Salah and heading the ball into the net to make it 3-1.
The win moves Egypt to four points and the top of Group G, ahead of Iran and Belgium, who are both on two points.
