Sadio Mane has laid the foundation stone for SM10 Agro in Bambali, Senegal, an ambitious €17.84 million agro-industrial park aimed at transforming mango production and processing in the Casamance region.
The facility is expected to process up to 8,500 tonnes of mangoes annually and create more than 1,000 direct jobs. It will include three specialised production units dedicated to mango pulp, dried mango, and mango butter.
Operations are scheduled to begin in March 2027, while a dedicated training centre for agro-industrial skills will also form part of the complex.
The project aims to address significant post-harvest losses in the region, where an estimated 30% to 45% of mangoes are wasted each year due to limited storage and processing infrastructure.
“I don't want to be remembered only for the goals I scored,” Mane said, highlighting his ambition to create economic opportunities for young people and support a more sustainable future in his home region.
