Former Barcelona and Spain star Pedro Rodriguez has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 39.
Pedro shared a video on social media confirming that he is calling time on his playing career after representing some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Barcelona, Chelsea, Roma and Lazio.
"Being part of the best Barça in history was a privilege; we won everything and amazed the world. My heart will always be a Barça fan," he said.
Pedro also used the occasion to thank everyone who played a role in his journey, adding:
"I feel it's the right time. Thanks to my teammates, the best thing hasn't been the titles, it's been you.
"Thanks to the clubs that opened their doors to me and the coaches who trusted in me. Thanks to the fans for so much love and thanks to my children, my family, and my friends. Thank you, football, for making me so happy."
Barcelona responded to his announcement with a heartfelt message: "You'll always be part of our history. Thank you for everything you've given to football and for every moment you've shared with us. We wish you all the best in this new chapter."
Pedro leaves behind a remarkable legacy at Barcelona, having won five La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey trophies and three Champions League titles with the Catalan giants. He was also part of the Spain squad that won the World Cup in 2026.
The winger made 321 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 99 goals and lifting 20 trophies during his time at Camp Nou.
Thank you for everything, Pedro, and best of luck in the next chapter of your life!
