SSC Napoli have officially confirmed the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as the new head coach of the first team. The Italian manager has signed a long-term deal that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2029.
This move marks a return to familiar ground for Allegri, who previously played for Napoli during the 1997/98 season. He now takes charge from the touchline following his most recent spell at AC Milan, where he guided the team to a fifth-place finish in last season’s league campaign.
Born in Livorno, Allegri brings a highly decorated track record in Italian football. His achievements include six Serie A titles—five with Juventus and one with Milan—along with five Coppa Italia trophies and three Supercoppa Italiana wins. He has also reached the UEFA Champions League final on two occasions.
Earlier in his managerial career, he made his top-flight debut with Cagliari Calcio after achieving a historic promotion with US Sassuolo.
Allegri’s arrival at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is expected to have a significant impact on Italian football. The club’s board is confident that his experience will help restore stability and a winning mentality as Napoli aim to return to regular contention for major honours.
