According to Globoesporte, Robinho Jr., who is Neymar’s teammate, has accused him of “slapping him” during a training session and has formally demanded that Santos terminate his own contract through an extrajudicial notice.
The club stated that “an internal investigation process was immediately initiated after the events to analyze the incident involving the athletes Neymar Jr. and Robson de Souza Jr. (Robinho Jr.),” and confirmed that its legal department is handling the case.
A scandal has erupted at Santos. Following an incident during the team’s latest training session, tensions rose between Robinho Jr. (18) and Neymar (34) after a dribble by the younger player allegedly led to “shoving and scuffles,” according to Globoesporte. However, the situation did not end there and may continue to escalate.
According to the same Brazilian outlet, representatives of Robinho Jr. sent an extrajudicial notice to Santos accusing Neymar of using “offensive insults” and delivering “a violent slap to the face.”
In addition, Robinho Jr. has reportedly requested a meeting with the club to seek termination of his own contract due to “the lack of minimum safety conditions.” The reports also claim that if Santos does not take the requested measures, it could result in the termination of his contract—signed less than a month ago and running until 2031—as well as a claim for moral and material damages.
Santos responded quickly to the incident, issuing a statement on Monday confirming the “incident” between Robinho Jr. and Neymar and outlining the steps being taken: “Santos FC informs that, by order of the presidency, an internal investigation process was initiated immediately after the events that occurred to analyze the incident involving the athletes Neymar Jr. and Robson de Souza Jr. (Robinho Jr.), during training on Sunday (May 3) at the Rei Pelé Training Center. The Club’s Legal Department is responsible for conducting the investigation.”
