Messi injury postpones Inter Miami match in Puerto Rico

The friendly between Inter Miami and Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle has been rescheduled to February 26 after Lionel Messi suffered a muscle injury.

The match between Inter Miami and Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle, originally scheduled for this Friday in Puerto Rico, has been postponed to February 26 due to an injury to Argentine star Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi apologized to the people of Puerto Rico and explained the reason for his injury:

“Hello everyone, I’d like to send my greetings to the people of Puerto Rico, both those who were going to attend the training session and the match.

“The truth is that in the last match in Ecuador I ended up with a discomfort, which is why I came off before the end. Because of that, together with the organizers and the club, it was decided to suspend this match. I hope it can be rescheduled, that we can see each other, and that we can visit you soon.

“I’m sending you all a very big thank you for your support and affection. I know tickets had already been sold and everything was set in motion, so hopefully we can make it happen later.

“A big hug to everyone, and all the best.”

Messi did not take part in Wednesday’s training session due to a strain in his left hamstring suffered Saturday during the match against Barcelona SC in Ecuador. His return to training will depend on his recovery in the coming days.
