Lionel Messi has donated €80,000 to support the reconstruction of Madrid's Sierra Oeste, one of the areas hardest hit by the recent wildfires that burned more than 27,000 hectares and affected 17 municipalities.
The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, announced on social media that Lionel Messi has donated €80,000 to support the reconstruction of the Sierra Oeste region, one of the areas most severely affected by the devastating wildfires of recent weeks.
Ayuso also thanked the Inter Miami and former Barcelona star for his contribution, saying the people of Madrid hope to welcome him soon and recognize his generosity.
The Sierra Oeste wildfire affected 17 municipalities in the Madrid region, forcing more than 55,000 residents to evacuate or remain confined. Initial estimates indicate the fire burned more than 27,000 hectares, making it the largest wildfire recorded in the region in recent decades.
