France began their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 1–0 victory over Türkiye at Kocaeli Stadium in İzmit, in Zinedine Zidane's first match as head coach.
France dominated the opening half and created several promising chances, but were unable to break the deadlock. Türkiye also threatened on the counter-attack, only to be denied by France goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who kept his side's goal intact.
Türkiye made a positive start to the second half and created opportunities of their own, but France eventually found the breakthrough in the 55th minute. Kylian Mbappé converted a pass from Michael Olise to put Les Bleus ahead.
Mbappé was forced off shortly after scoring, however, with Désiré Doué coming on as his replacement.
Türkiye's hopes of finding an equaliser suffered another blow in the 87th minute when goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır handled the ball outside the penalty area. Following a VAR review, the referee showed Çakır a red card, leaving Türkiye to finish the match with 10 men.
France held on to secure a narrow victory and give Zidane a winning start in his first competitive match in charge, earning their first three points of the Nations League campaign.
