Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League, marking a major development in one of the most significant cases in the competition’s history.
According to The Athletic, the club was found guilty on all but one of the charges relating to alleged breaches of Premier League rules.
No decision has yet been made on the sanctions, but severe consequences remain possible.
Manchester City have consistently denied all allegations and are expected to appeal the findings.
A City spokesperson told The Athletic:
“The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality.
“As such Manchester City FC’s position remains consistent with the club’s statement of February 2023.
“The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis the Premier League board and executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair minded regulator, free from partisan influence.”
City were charged by the Premier League following an investigation into alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018.
The investigation began after German newspaper Der Spiegel published leaked financial documents relating to Manchester City in November 2018.
The case was subsequently referred to an independent commission to adjudicate on the charges.
The Times reports that Premier League clubs were informed of the outcome following Thursday’s league meeting.
