Luis Enrique’s PSG shows sominance, looks ahead to Anfield

After PSG’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, coach Luis Enrique praised his team’s performance while noting surprise at Liverpool’s defensive setup.

Luis Enrique, head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke after his team’s 2-0 win against Liverpool in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. He stated that PSG “deserved more goals” and expressed surprise at the defensive approach of their opponents.

Enrique said: "It’s a shame. I think we played a match worthy of our fans. We played very well and deserved to score more goals. But that’s how the Champions League is."

He added: "It was a surprise to see Liverpool play like that. I think they are starting to change. We are used to our opponents adapting to us. No matter the stadium or the rival, PSG will go out to win. Anfield is a special stadium, yes, but we won’t change our approach."

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Achraf Hakimi were among the standout performers, with Kvaratskhelia scoring the second goal to secure PSG’s advantage.

The first leg leaves Liverpool with work to do in the return match, while PSG heads into Anfield confident but aware that the Champions League always brings surprises.
