Lamine Yamal made history on Wednesday, becoming the youngest captain in Barcelona’s history at 19 years and 58 days old during the Spanish champions’ 5-1 Champions League victory over Feyenoord.
Barcelona’s first-choice captain, Raphinha, handed the armband to the Spanish forward after being substituted in the 71st minute.
Yamal’s appointment as captain set a new club record, surpassing Bojan Krkic, who previously held the distinction after captaining Barcelona in a 2010 Copa del Rey match at the age of 20.
The milestone adds another remarkable achievement to Yamal’s already impressive career at Barcelona, despite his young age.
