Jurgen Klopp tribute unveiled 11 years after his Anfield arrival

Eleven years after Jürgen Klopp first arrived at Anfield, a permanent statue honouring his legacy has been unveiled at the LFC Museum.

Eleven years after he breezed into the corridors of power at Anfield and famously declared himself 'the normal one', a permanent tribute to Jürgen Klopp has been unveiled inside the stadium.

Kindly donated to the LFC Museum by Spirit of Shankly, it is an exact replica of the 18-inch bronze statue the supporters' union presented to Klopp as a gesture of gratitude for everything he achieved during his time as Liverpool manager.

Sculpted by Andy Edwards of Castle Fine Arts Foundry – the company responsible for the Bob Paisley statue outside the club store and the iconic Beatles statue on Liverpool's waterfront – it depicts Klopp in a familiar pose.

Sporting his trademark cap, with one hand placed close to his heart and the other raised in a clenched-fist salute to fans, it perfectly captures the man who turned doubters into believers and led the Reds on an unforgettable journey.

Paul Khan, chair of Spirit of Shankly when the original Klopp statue was commissioned, said: "Jürgen was a special manager who got this club, the city and most importantly the supporters from day one. The greatest tribute you can possibly say is he has so many similarities with the great Bill Shankly – honesty, integrity, passion and a born winner.

"As Liverpool fans, we have been absolutely privileged and honoured to have had Jürgen as our manager. The days and nights he gave us will always be remembered. We hope this small gesture is a fitting tribute to all Jürgen has done and can be appreciated by all fans who visit the museum."

From his arrival in October 2015 until his departure in 2024, the charismatic German restored Liverpool's place among football's elite and provided supporters with a lifetime of cherished memories.

His high-intensity, 'heavy metal' brand of football delivered success on every front, including a sixth European Cup, the club's first FIFA Club World Cup, a long-awaited Premier League title, and domestic cup triumphs.

Beyond the trophies, Klopp forged a unique bond with the supporters. Few managers have connected so deeply with Liverpool's fan base and when he left Anfield after nearly nine years in charge, he did so with their lasting admiration and affection.

As he embarks on his new role with the Germany national team, Klopp remains one of the most revered former occupants of the Anfield dugout.

This statue, now on permanent display in the club museum, will help ensure his era-defining contribution to Liverpool's history is preserved for generations to come.

Karen Gill, granddaughter of Shankly and Spirit of Shankly patron, added: "My grandad Bill Shankly and Jürgen Klopp belong to very different eras, but both understood what makes Liverpool Football Club so special – its people, its history and its sense of community.

"So it was a real honour to present the statue to the museum on behalf of the Spirit of Shankly."
