John Stones will leave Manchester City this summer, the club have announced.
The 31-year-old will depart as a free agent at the end of the season, bringing an end to a remarkable 10-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.
He leaves the club having secured six Premier League titles, the Champions League, and numerous domestic honours.
Stones played a pivotal role in the historic treble-winning campaign of 2023, starting both the FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final versus Inter Milan.
The England international has not been offered a contract extension, partly due to a challenging injury record in recent seasons.
He has not started a Premier League match since October and has made only 18 league appearances since the beginning of the 2024–25 campaign.
In a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram page, Stones expressed that Manchester City will always feel like “home” to him.
“It has been a rollercoaster in many ways,” said the former Everton defender. “I arrived as a young player and now I leave as a man — a father, a husband, and a fulfilled footballer on the pitch.
“I’ve lived out all my dreams and achieved everything I came here for.
“At the start of my journey here, I could never have imagined reaching this point — not only in terms of success, but also the love and connection I’ve built with everyone. Every dream has truly been exceeded.”
