Barcelona have announced that João Cancelo will remain a Barça player on a permanent basis after reaching an agreement with Al Hilal for the Portuguese international. Cancelo has signed a three-season contract with the Club, keeping him at Barcelona until June 30, 2029.
Cancelo first joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester City during the 2023/24 season, making 42 appearances under Xavi Hernández and contributing four goals and five assists.
After moving to Al Hilal, the Portuguese full-back returned to Barcelona on loan in January 2026. He quickly became a key part of Hansi Flick's squad, primarily operating at left-back. Cancelo finished the season with 23 appearances, two goals and four assists.
