Harry Kane received the Golden Shoe this afternoon in Munich, recognizing him as the top scorer in the European leagues in the 2025-26 season thanks to his 36 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches with league champions Bayern.
The ceremony took place in the club’s Museum, located at the Allianz Arena. The English striker was accompanied by Christian Dreesen (Bayern CEO), Marc Lenz (Bundesliga President), Luca Toni (Golden Shoe winner and ESM representative), which sponsors the award.
"I want to thank Bayern, the staff, the coaches, and my teammates. Without them, I wouldn't be here. There is a lot of work behind an award like this," said Kane. "I try to help the team in the best way possible. Last season was exceptional, and I am very proud. It was the best season of my career so far. I feel very comfortable at Bayern and with the team. We always aim for big things, and we want to do it again this season".
It is the second Golden Boot that HK will receive, after the one won in 2023-24, when he was already at Bayern in Germany. Harry, at 33 years of age, expressed his desire to go for a third, which would place him on the podium of a trio of truly chosen ones, since only two footballers in the history of this award have managed more than two trophies... and they could be none other than Lionel Messi (six awards) and Cristiano Ronaldo (four Golden Boots). Then there are another 11 footballers (Kane among them) with two.
The Golden Shoe is an objective award, without any kind of outside opinion, presented by ESM (European Sport Media), of which MARCA is the Spanish member, among some of Europe's most prestigious media outlets. Since 96-97, the Golden Shoe has awarded two points for each goal scored in the major European leagues, reflecting the difficulty they pose compared with other leagues in which each goal is valued at 1.5 or even just one point.
In the 25-26 season, Harry, with those 36 goals, finished first ahead of the goals scored by Erling Halaand (26 with City) and Kylian Mbappé (25 with Real Madrid), who won the Silver Boot and the Bronze Boot, respectively.
