Barcelona midfielder Gavi reportedly told Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior to “shut up” following a heated exchange during Sunday’s El Clásico at Camp Nou, after the Brazilian star appeared to provoke home supporters.
Barcelona secured the La Liga title with a 2–0 victory over their arch-rivals, with both goals arriving inside the opening 20 minutes of the match. As the home fans erupted in celebration, sections of the crowd began to boo the visiting players.
Vinícius responded by turning toward the crowd and raising his fingers to signal 15 — referencing Real Madrid’s 15 UEFA Champions League titles. The gesture was widely interpreted as a provocation aimed at Barcelona supporters, who were also quick to highlight their club’s five European Cups.
Following the incident, Gavi confronted Vinícius on the pitch, telling him to “shut his mouth” and later describing him as a “hothead” similar to himself, while insisting the exchange remained confined to the field of play.
The pair have a history of tense interactions during previous high-intensity El Clásico encounters, where emotions between the two Spanish giants frequently boil over.
