Udinese have officially announced the signing of four-time Champions League winner David Alaba on a free transfer, with the Austrian defender joining the club on a contract running until the end of the 2026-27 season.
The 34-year-old became a free agent after leaving Real Madrid this summer following the expiration of his five-year contract.
Alaba has now signed with Kosta Runjaic’s side until the end of the 2026-27 campaign. Udinese currently sit 13th in the Serie A table after five matches, having recorded one win, one draw and three defeats.
With 10 Bundesliga titles, two LaLiga trophies and four Champions League winners’ medals, alongside numerous other domestic, continental and international honours, Alaba arrives as the most decorated active player in Serie A, surpassing his former Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric.
Udinese general manager Franco Collavino welcomed the signing, saying: “The signing of David Alaba is a source of enormous pride for the whole club. We’re welcoming an established champion, a leader and an exemplary professional. His arrival demonstrates Udinese’s desire to grow and compete at the highest levels.”
Alaba himself said: “I’ve had a lot of different experiences and I’ve won a lot during my career, but one thing hasn’t changed: I want to compete and win again. I still want to achieve something special and that is the mentality I will bring to Udinese.”
Udinese will return to action after the international break when they travel to face Torino at 19:45 BST on Monday, October 12.
