Portuguese superstar and Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo refused to stand on the podium and receive the runners-up medal after his team’s defeat to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League 2 final.
Ronaldo, who has previously shown similar reactions after defeats, decided against accepting a medal in Asia’s second-tier club competition. However, the Portuguese forward could still win his first trophy with the Riyadh-based side in the coming days and potentially lift the title with the Al Nassr.
It appears Ronaldo may not have considered a medal from this tournament — in which he missed several matches — worthy of his standards and stature.
