Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo etched his name even deeper into football history after scoring against Uzbekistan in Portugal’s Group K clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The goal made Ronaldo the first player ever to score in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments, extending a record that had previously seen him score in the 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 editions.
Ronaldo struck early in the match, giving Portugal a 1-0 lead and ending months of speculation over whether he could achieve the unprecedented milestone at the age of 41.
The Portuguese superstar has now scored 9 goals in FIFA World Cup history, adding his latest strike to the eight goals he had accumulated across his previous five World Cup appearances.
Already the most-capped player in international football and Portugal’s all-time leading scorer, Ronaldo’s latest achievement further strengthens his legacy as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.
