Colombia booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup round of 32 after overcoming DR Congo in a Group K encounter at Guadalajara Stadium.
The South Americans started brightly and thought they had taken the lead as early as the sixth minute when Daniel Muñoz found the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
Colombia continued to dictate proceedings and created several dangerous opportunities after the break. Their persistence finally paid off in the 76th minute when Muñoz broke the deadlock, finishing off a move to give his side a deserved advantage.

Just three minutes later, Luis Díaz appeared to have doubled Colombia’s lead, but the Italian referee disallowed the goal after judging that the winger had committed a foul on a DR Congo defender in the build-up.
Díaz found the net again in the 80th minute, yet his celebrations were once more cut short as the assistant referee raised the flag for offside.
The victory moved Colombia onto six points, enough to secure top spot in Group K and confirm their progression to the knockout stage. DR Congo, meanwhile, remained third in the standings with one point.
