The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has officially announced the return of Roberto Mancini as head coach of the Italy national team for a second spell.
FIGC President Giovanni Malagò confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, with Claudio Ranieri set to assume the role of Technical Director.
Mancini succeeds Gennaro Gattuso, who departed the position in April following Italy's World Cup qualifying defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The result marked the third consecutive World Cup cycle in which the four-time world champions failed to qualify for football's biggest tournament.
