Jordan and Algeria faced off in a Group J match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Algeria coming from behind to secure a 2-1 victory at San Francisco Stadium.
Jordan took the lead in the 36th minute through a stunning strike from Nizar Al-Rashdan. The goal was historic, marking Jordan’s first-ever goal in FIFA World Cup history, and it sent the team into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

However, Algeria mounted a strong comeback after the break. Nadir Benbouali equalized in the 69th minute with a well-placed header, bringing the North Africans back into the contest.
Algeria completed the turnaround in the 82nd minute when Amine Gouiri found the net, sealing a crucial 2-1 win for his side.
The victory earned Algeria its first three points of the tournament, setting up a decisive final group-stage clash against Austria in the race for qualification. Jordan, meanwhile, was eliminated from the competition after suffering its second consecutive defeat.
