José Mourinho has been officially presented as the new head coach of Real Madrid during an event held at the Ciudad Real Madrid boardroom. The ceremony marked the beginning of the Portuguese manager’s return to the Santiago Bernabéu dugout and the start of a new era for the club.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez welcomed Mourinho at the presentation, where the coach signed the contract that will keep him in charge of the first team for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029. The agreement officially confirms Mourinho’s return to the club after his previous spell between 2010 and 2013.
Following the contract signing, Mourinho received several symbolic gifts from the club, including a replica of the stadium, a watch, and a personalised shirt bearing his name. The ceremony was also attended by Real Madrid honorary president José Martínez Pirri, who joined the club’s leadership in welcoming the new coach.
The presentation was held in a private setting rather than the traditional open event at the Santiago Bernabéu, reflecting a more discreet start to Mourinho’s second chapter in Madrid. The club shared images of the meeting, showing Mourinho alongside Florentino Pérez as he completed the formalities of his appointment.
Mourinho will officially begin his work with the squad on July 13, when Real Madrid’s pre-season preparations get underway. The Portuguese coach returns to Madrid with the mission of leading the team’s new sporting project and bringing his experience and winning mentality back to the club.
During his first spell at Real Madrid, Mourinho guided the team to major domestic success, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, while also reaching three consecutive Champions League semi-finals. His return marks one of the most high-profile managerial comebacks in the club’s recent history.
