The Atlanta Stadium hosted the opening match of the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage, where the Czechia and South Africa played out a 1–1 draw in an evenly contested encounter.
The Czechia started strongly and broke the deadlock early in the 6th minute through Michal Sadílek, giving his side an early advantage. After conceding, South Africa gradually grew into the game, with the Bafana Bafana improving their ball possession and controlling larger phases of play. However, despite their increased dominance, they were unable to create clear-cut chances before halftime, which ended with the Czechs still leading 1–0.

In the second half, South Africa pushed forward with greater urgency, knowing that a defeat would significantly reduce their chances of advancing to the next stage. Their persistence paid off in the 83rd minute when they were awarded a penalty. Teboho Mokoena stepped up and confidently converted from the spot to level the score.

The match ended 1–1, with both teams earning a point. The result leaves both the Czechia national football team and the South Africa national football team still in contention for qualification, with their final group matches set to be decisive.
